Territorial integrity, mutual recognition of the inviolability of internationally recognized borders: Baku presented its 5 points of settlement of relations with Armenia

Leyla Abdullayeva, the representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, touched upon Azerbaijan's proposals for the settlement of relations with Armenia. Among these proposals is the recognition of each other's territorial integrity and mutual confirmation of the absence of territorial claims to each other.

"During his speech at the diplomatic forum in Antalya, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov spoke about Azerbaijan's peacemaker efforts in the post-conflict period. It was noted that despite the steps aimed at the settlement of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the statements at the highest level about the readiness to conclude a peace treaty with that country, Armenia has not given any response lately."

Then Abdullayeva presented Azerbaijan's proposal, which was transmitted to Armenia by the mediators.

  • mutual recognition of sovereignty, territorial integrity, inviolability of internationally recognized borders and respect for each other's political independence,

  • mutual confirmation of the absence of territorial requirements to each other,

  • the obligation to refrain from the use of force in their interstate relations, against political independence, territorial integrity, as well as in any other form inconsistent with the purposes of the UN Charter,

  • demarcation and delimitation of the state border, establishment of diplomatic relations,

  • unblocking transport and other communications, creating other communications if necessary, and establishing cooperation in other areas of mutual interest.

"On the basis of the above principles, the two countries can conclude a bilateral peace agreement by conducting intensive, substantive and result-oriented negotiations," concluded the representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
